Linx-AS announces partner program for Intellectual Property Manager

Linx-AS Announces Partner Program for Intellectual Property Manager, a “Powered by SAP NetWeaver” Solution.

Vertical Influence Partner program offers early adopters cost incentives for participation in community aimed at developing enterprise-wide practices for IP management on SAP NetWeaver platform.

King of Prussia, PA – January 23, 2007 – Linx-AS LLC, a product lifecycle management (PLM) consulting firm and partner in the SAP industry value network (IVN), announced the formal kick-off of its vertical influence partner (VIP) program for Intellectual Property Manager (IPM) version 1.0. IPM is a role-based software that provides an enterprise solution for managing the entire lifecycle of intellectual property—from disclosure and review of IP proposals; to legal activities such as registration and licensing; to the maintenance of the portfolio from a strategic product development perspective.

Recruiters for the VIP program are seeking eight to ten partner companies that represent consumer goods, chemicals/petrochemicals, high-tech/electronics, life sciences/pharmaceuticals, industrial machinery & components, and aerospace & defense industries. Selected partners will receive IPM version 1.0 software at no cost and implementation services at a reduced rate. In turn, partners will be afforded design influence on the future releases of IPM, while contributing to best practices of IP management for their respective industries.

“If you look at the challenges in the IP landscape today, with the ramifications of globalization and design collaboration, the solution becomes a complex mix of business process change supported by IT enablement on an enterprise scale,” states Jeff Frye, president of Linx-AS. “SAP customers are fortunate to have the platform in place. What the VIP program is setting out to achieve is leveraging their technology investment, using IPM as the centerpiece for best practices on the SAP NetWeaver platform.”

Frye’s assertions on the risk of IP in a global market are supported by the findings of a recent report from the Aberdeen Group, Protecting Product Intellectual Property Benchmark Report. The report examined the IP protection procedures, experiences, and intentions of approximately 150 enterprises across a wide range of manufacturing industries. Among the many findings reported, almost one half of the companies are experiencing real tangible losses due to compromised IP—48% reporting lost market share and 44% tallying lost product sales. “With businesses feeling a real, quantifiable dollar impact, the urgency for a right way to do things is increasing,” Frye concludes, “and we believe the VIP program for Intellectual Property Manager offers leading-edge companies running SAP the opportunity to gain a significant competitive advantage in the IP arena.”
